It has a total of five main features and each one has its significance to being a very productive business tool for your smartphone.

Scan Card

This is a feature that will be used the most by users, as it transforms your paper business card into a fully functioning interactive business e-card within seconds. The unique thing about this is that when you scan a business card, it automatically detects the text which is displayed on the business card, such as Phone Number, Job title, Company, and all the information that is printed on the business card. Once it has processed all of the text on the business card, you get the same options to provide additional details, such as notes, industry, and social media links.

But there’s something even more amazing that is extremely unique for an app like Contapp. It’s the Save Location feature that can be found on your contacts’ business card profiles when you’re in edit mode.

This incredible feature allows you to save the exact location of where you met the person who gave you a business card when you scan it into Contapp. Integrated with Google Maps, you will never forget where you met the person that gave you that business card. It’s an extremely useful feature for people that go to events and network with a lot of people in various locations.

My Card

Here is where your information and your profile is saved for you to edit and share with anyone. You can scan your current paper business card and it will auto-populate all of the information into Contapp. 

However, if you do not already have business cards printed yet, this feature will help you a lot because you can create your business e-card manually here. This feature mainly allows you to make your virtual business card along with some extra information that you can’t have on a paper business card, such as social media links. You have the information fields such as:

• Profile Image
• Company
• Job title
• Phone Number
• Email
• Website
• Address
• Industry
• Social Media Links
• Notes

Giving the Notes feature is the best feature to help ‘sell yourself’, it allows you to describe your business and services/products you offer. It is totally up to you on how you use this feature, but surely it is something that no other business card scanning app offers in such an easy and useful way.

Then after making and saving your virtual business card, you have the option to share it to others. Now in this app, you can share it via two methods, one of which I'll discuss later on but for now, when you click Share Card, you get two options:

• Share it nearby
• Share it socially

By clicking Social you can share it on any social media or messaging platform you want. It's completely up to you. This is the perfect option if you are sending it to someone who is far away from you or if the recipient does not have Contapp downloaded. 

When you send your business e-card via this option, it will automatically send the recipient a link to the Contapp App Store to download, and it’ll also attach your business e-card as a CSV file via a link. They can use this to import into Contapp once they download the app, and your business e-card will appear in their library.

If you want to make any changes to your card or you want to delete it, then you can click on the three dots near the Notes option.

My Library

Now if you're a person who has lots of business cards to scan, plus have many professions or job titles in many companies, then this feature will surely help you to ease your stress of differentiating your cards. It’s very smooth and easy to navigate through your library, very user-friendly for anyone looking through their large collection of business cards. This interactive library feature offers you many good options that also no other business card app on iOS or Android can provide.

As I said earlier, if you are a person with lots of job profiles or you work in many companies, you have the option of creating different groups which will help you be more organized. You can decide for yourself and can add different scanned cards to different groups as per your need. 

Now you have scanned numerous cards and have different groups, what if you want to find a specific contact from your library but you are unable to find it in your collection? Contapp helps you with this as it offers a super filter and search feature. You can filter out your contacts by selecting the appropriate Company, Industry, Job Title, all according to your preference. Then you also get an option to search directly via keywords. All these options are available on the top right corner of the screen on the My Library page.

Exchange Card

The most usable (or you could say the most unique feature Contapp has to offer) is the Share Card feature. As I was saying earlier, this is when you want to share your card and you get two options; Nearby and Social. I have told you about the Social option only, so now let’s talk about the Nearby option. You get sharing nearby options in My Card also, although it has a different page, but the process is the same for sharing Nearby.

If you want to share your card to a person who is standing near you and he also has the Contapp app downloaded, you can directly share it via Contapp itself by the Share Card option. 

By clicking this, you come across a screen flashing two options:

• Send
• Receive

You just have to swipe up if you want to send your card to the person or you can swipe down if you want to receive the card, but the thing you have to keep in mind before doing this is that the app should be open on both smartphones. One has to swipe up to send and other have to swipe down to receive. After doing this, the app will search automatically and will send or receive the card. 

This feature cleverly uses proximity technology, so there is no need for any physical interaction with anyone. You can also send one card to multiple people at one time.

Backup Data

Contapp provides you with the option of backing up your library. By backing up your collection of business cards from your library, you will always have a backup of your library in a CSV file format which can then easily be imported back into Contapp. The file will be saved locally or via the Cloud, so it will always be saved.

By clicking on backup data you come across two options on the top of the screen

• Import
• Export

On Import you get options:

• Select File
• Select Group

You can select a file according to your needs (a CSV file that you have already exported from Contapp, for example), after clicking save you successfully import the file on to this app which you can check in My Library page.

Same ways you have Export where you get options:

• Select Group
• Enter File Name

You can choose as per your needs and after clicking "Share on Cloud" you successfully export all of your scanned business cards from your library that you have saved on this app.

So, why is Contapp better than any other business card scanning and managing apps available on App Stores? It’s a cool app that looks good, functions superbly and makes busy people in business a lot more productive with their business cards. It also helps to save the planet!
