As we have talked about the Top 15 hidden features of Snapchat that you must know in the last article, a thought came to my mind that Instagram is also a very popular social media app among all of us and mostly every one of us uses it so why don't I share with you guys the Top 15 hidden features of Instagram that you must know in the year 2020 to make your experience with Instagram easier and more convenient.

Although, there are plenty of features that Instagram offers but very few people know about them that's why they are known as "Hidden". In this article, I'll share Top 15 of them that are worth a try.

#1 Templates For Your Stories
There are plenty of templates that you can get/add to your story available externally but Instagram itself also provides you with a bunch of templates that you can use or else are worth a try. 

How to get/use them:
  1. Open your Story by either clicking on the '+' sign available on the top fo the screen or by swiping right.
  2. Go to "Create"
  3. There you'll get plenty of options like Shoutouts, Gifs, and many more.
  4. Swipe to the "Templates" which is on the fourth number from the starting.
  5. There you'll get plenty of templates to use.
  6. Tap once to change templates and choose the one that suits you.
  7. Click the photo.
  8. Add your description or anything you want to add and post it.
#2 Get Notification When One Of Your Favorite Artist/Person Posts
There is always one person in your feed whom for you wait to post something and you become the first one to like his post. Instagram has provided you with this feature if it is enabled you to get the notification whenever he posts something. 

How to enable it:
  1. Go to the person's profile whose post notifications you want.
  2. Open one of his posts.
  3. Click on the three dots available on the top right corner of the post.
  4. Click "Turn on Post Notifications".
#3 Hide Your Story From A Single Person
If there is a person in your feed whose stories/post you like very much then there is also a person in your feed whom you can't unfriend but you also don't want to show him some stories that you post. Instagram helps you in this also.

How to do this:
  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Privacy 
  3. Click Story
  4. Open "Hide story from"
  5. Add the names according to your need
#4 See The History Of your Liked Posts
Sometimes it happens that you have liked someone's post but you don't follow him, however, after a few days due to some reasons you need to find that particular photo. To help you in this Instagram provides you with a feature called "Posts you have liked".

How to find this option:
  1. Open Settings
  2. Click on "Account"
  3. Click on "Post you've liked"
While seeing your liked posts you get the option to see them in two ways you can choose among them:
  • In group
  • One by one
#5 Rearrange The Order Of The Filters While Posting
There are some filters that you must like to put all the time on your photos but there are also some filters that you don't use and don't want to use in the future also but every time you post your filters get shuffled and you have to find the right one yourself. Now to fix this you have to follow simple steps while posting such as:
  1. Stop when you get to the filter and edit page.
  2. Swipe extreme right on the filters.
  3. Click Manage
  4. Adjust your filters as per your preference.
#6 Set Reminder Of Your Daily Limit
Sometimes when you are free you tend to spend all your day in just using/engaging in Instagram only and mark my words that can lead you to a serious addiction of suffering online even if you have nothing to do and like me, Instagram also knows this and has taken some steps to avoid this and save their audience. One of which is setting a reminder of your daily limit. After setting a limit of your usage whenever you cross that limit by some means a message will pop up on your screen displaying that you have used the app over your set limit. After the app has warned you now it's totally up to you to continue using Instagram or take the warning seriously and stop using the app. Although these types of features are being introduced in every app nowadays but every app has its own means of conveying this message.

How to enable it:
  1. Go to settings
  2. Open "Your activity"
  3. Click "Set daily reminder"
#7 Easily Unfollow The Accounts You Least Interacted With
If by some means you have followed a lot of accounts and now you are thinking of unfriending them and it has become a hassle for you to unfollow so many accounts that too selecting one by one that which one you have to unfollow and which one not. In recent updates, Instagram has come up to help you with this hassle by introducing the feature that helps you to locate which accounts you have least interacted with and you get a list of those accounts and unfollow directly.

How to do this:
  1. Open settings
  2. Go to privacy
  3. Scroll down
  4. Click "Accounts you follow"
Here you get to see all your following and followers list along with the accounts you have least interacted with and accounts that have been mostly shown in your feed. You can go to the "least interacted with" and unfollow as per your preference.

#8 Hide Your Activity Status
Activity status is said to be that feature that tells others about your last seen or when were you last active on Instagram the same as any other app but sometimes due to some reasons, it becomes necessary to hide your activity status so that no one sees that when were you last online/active on Instagram.

How to do so:
  1. Open settings
  2. Go to privacy
  3. Click on "Activity status"
  4. Turn it off
#9 Manually Approve The Tags
It happens many times that someone tags you to his/her photo randomly and it starts showing in your tagged photos page on your account but probably you don't want that photo to be seen on your account to others, in that case, this feature of manually approving the tags help you. This feature helps you in verifying the image that you want to be tagged and want to show on your account and vice versa.


To enable this feature follow these steps:
  1. Open settings
  2. Go to privacy 
  3. Go to Tags
  4. Click on "Manually Approve Tags"
  5. Turn it on
after turning it on Instagram will first ask you that you want this photo to show on your account or not and you can see the pending tags here itself.

#10 Hide Specific Search Queries 
Although, there is the option to clear your search history fully but once in a while you want to remove only a certain number of search history. This is very simple to do just follow these steps:
  1. Go to Search 
  2. Click on the cross option available to you on every profile, hashtag you searched.
#11 Remove Old Photos Without Actually Deleting
We all know old memories are like gold in everyone's life and no one wants them to loose but if they are posted on your Instagram handle and you want to make some changes to your profile and for that, you are forced to remove those memories, in this case, rather than deleting you can archive it. It will be not shown to others but the photo will be safe and you'll not loose it easily.

How to do this:
  1. Go to the picture/video you want to remove.
  2. Click on the three dots on the top right of the picture.
  3. Select Archive.
#12 View How Much Time You Have Spent On Instagram
In its recent updates, Instagram has introduced the feature that tells you about the time you have spent on the particular app daily and also shows you a bar graph of your weekly usage

How to get this feature:
  1. Open settings
  2. Go to "Your activity"
#13 Save Drafts For Later
If you are suffering through different pictures and suddenly a picture/video strikes you and you want to save it then here you use the feature of saving in draft available on the bottom right corner of the photo. After clicking this the photo/video gets saved in the Draft option and you can access it later on by going to the draft photos available differently.

How to locate the draft folder:
  1. Click on the three lines available on the top right of the screen.
  2. Select "Saved"
You can also make different folders of your saved content. The option appears while you are saving anything in the draft.

#14 Browse Different Photo Effects 
You get plenty of filters for your story that are available straight on your screen but if your don't like any of them you have the option to browse filters yourself the same as you do in Snapchat. Here also people/artists have uploaded their work/filters and you can choose which one you want to try.

How to get them:
  1. Go to your story
  2. swipe extreme right on the filters
  3. Click on browse
  4. Choose the one which best suits you 
  5. Open it 
  6. Now you can either save it directly to your other Instagram filters or you can first try it before saving.
#15 Make Better stories 
Making a good story mostly depends on your own creativity and imagination but sometimes the external apps available to you on the App store add a little more spice in your story.
