As this pandemic situation of COVID-19 is going on. Everything in this whole world is moving to the online platform it could be a school giving online classes to their students or it could be a small company managing its clients. Almost everything has gone online till now and many more are going.

In this whole situation some of the video conferencing apps are seeing a huge increase in traffic on their platforms no doubt everyone needs these apps right now to maintain their particular works right?

If we talk about the Zoom according to the reports, the revenue of the Zoom video conferencing app alone has increased five-fold then imagine what the other would be earning.

But past week Indian government and many other governments of different states claimed Zoom is unsafe for the users. There are numerous reasons we shall cover that some other day.

Due to this now people are preferring Cisco Webex Meeting over the others as it is being claimed as the best for today's use and in this article, we'll find out

Is the Cisco Webex meeting a good alternative to Zoom?

If you have used Zoom before you will find quite a few similarities between these two apps.

Like Zoom Cisco Webex Meeting allows you to join a meeting on your Laptop, Pcs, Android devices, and iPhones and offers an excellent video quality. You are able to record meetings and share screens with up to 25 members.

However.unlike zoom in Webex you can customize your video layouts as per your requirements. This means that you have the privilege of changing not to see all your fellow members in numerous video feeds across your screen.

Webex offers users the chance to create more thorough profiles through the people insight feature. Users can learn more about there fellow members through this.

Talking about app design, I feel the Cisco Webex is more well designed and maintained than Zoom.
While you are in some conference Zoom provides you with quite old fashioned type layouts and background which doesn't look praising to eyes whereas Cisco Webex's whole layout and app design is top-notch in this field.

Although when someone is speaking, both the app displays their respective names that who is speaking or whose mic is open but in Zooom we have to go in members' option to see that whose's speaking whereas in Webex the name is displayed directly to the main screen.

In Zoom when a new member gets connected to a meeting it displays his/her name on the top of the screen but sometimes you miss to see that whereas in Cisco Webex if a new person gets connected or someone has opened up his mic a satisfying sound comes which immediately hits your senses and you come to know who has come or who has opened the mic. Although its a minor feature but becomes convenient in some special scenarios.

If you do not want to see the video conference going on due to some reason and you only want to listen to the audio. Webex provides you with this privilege as in the newest update they have added a feature of 'Audio-only mode'. This feature can become very helpful in certain cases.

If you are an IOS user then Cisco Webex is surely the best one for you because Webex is more friendly with iPhones, Macs, etc than Zoom or any other video conferencing app. It is compatible with Siri and if you want to schedule a meeting you can certainly schedule that by just saying it to the Siri and it is compatible with apple watch also which is a big deal for any video conferencing app.

As per the Guidelines of the government, you probably know that why zoom is said to be unsafe as its biggest reason is that meeting rooms are not locked till the host locks it himself and due to this anyone can enter that particular room. Webex's meeting room is automatically locked and you can see that on the top while you are in an ongoing meeting.

In Webex, you can easily distinguish the host of the meeting as the host has a Webex logo on his profile while others don't have such type of logo. Whereas on the Zoom it becomes quite difficult.

If you are a free user than Zoom has certain restrictions for the free users as it only allows 40 minutes of continuous meeting in the free version after that you have to rejoin but in Webex there are no such restrictions.

Scheduling meetings

Scheduling a meeting is the same as zoom you can schedule a meeting from the homepage of your Webex dashboard by clicking the "Schedule a Meeting" button. You can set the meeting name, a password if needed, the date and time.

Joining meetings

joining meetings is the same as it is in any other video conferencing app. The host schedules his meeting and sends you the link and you can join by just simply clicking on that link but sometimes the link doesn't work then you can use the meeting id of the host to join the meeting. The plus point is that Webex sends you a reminder notification 15 minutes prior to the starting time of the meeting.

During the meeting

During the meeting, almost everything is same as of any other video conferencing app you get plenty of features like whiteboard capabilities, screen sharing, chat privately or publically with other members of the meeting. Webex also provides you with a noise detection and suppression feature which will come handy if you live in some crowded/noisy place.

Overall

Both the apps are great and are full of useful features and are best in their fields but it truly depends on your own opinion though I'll prefer Webex over the Zoom the strongest reasons being is the security. I want to tell you that in this article we've discussed the free versions of both apps. Both the apps have their paid version too and then their pros and cons change accordingly.
